The CANTCU Flasher is used for flashing and customizing supported ZF 8HP and BMW DCT transmission software through CANTCU.
For new supported 8HP installations, Race+ and the 8HP TCM Tool are recommended. CANTCU Flasher remains available for Stock, OEM+, Custom Flash and other legacy software workflows.

¶ Flash Types
¶ Stock
Flashes stock transmission software based on the selected transmission type, model and fuel type.
If an immobilizer reset is required, it is performed during the flash.
¶ CANTCU OEM+
Flashes the CANTCU OEM+ calibration.
OEM+ includes:
- Removed torque limiters
- Removed irrelevant fault codes
- Increased clutch pressures
- Reduced shift times
- Available transmission customizations
¶ Custom Flash
Flashes a compatible custom transmission file.
A separate Custom Flash License is required and is locked to one CANTCU + transmission combination.
Requirements:
- Transmission must be supported by CANTCU Flasher
- SWFL calibration/map-area version must match the main SWFL version
.binfile format- Full dumps and calibration/map-area files are supported
- Checksum and CVN corrections are handled automatically where required
- Files are verified before flashing
Custom flashing is performed at the user's own risk. Incorrect or incompatible transmission software can cause transmission malfunction or damage.
¶ Race+
Race+ is not installed through CANTCU Flasher.
Use the 8HP TCM Tool for Race+ installation, backup and programming.

¶ 8HP Customization
Not all customization options are available for every transmission or software version.
¶ RPM Limit
Sets the maximum allowed transmission input RPM.
Set this at least 200 RPM above the engine rev limiter to avoid unnecessary transmission RPM intervention.
¶ Max DS RPM
Sets the maximum allowed target RPM during automatic downshifts.
A value approximately 500–1000 RPM below the main RPM Limit is recommended.
¶ Start in 2nd
Prevents the transmission from using 1st gear in Drive and Sport modes.
¶ Disable Blips
Disables transmission-requested throttle blips.
This can improve downshifts with ECUs that do not support blip requests.

¶ Shiftmap - Drive
Adjusts Drive mode upshift and downshift RPM based on throttle pedal position.
¶ Shiftmap - Sport
Adjusts Sport mode upshift and downshift RPM based on throttle pedal position.
¶ Torque Converter Lockup
Adjusts the minimum transmission input RPM for torque converter lockup.
¶ DCT Customization
Not all customization options are available for every DCT software version.
¶ Differential Ratio
Sets the differential ratio used by the DCT for vehicle-speed calculations.
The configured ratio must match the actual vehicle differential ratio for correct transmission operation.
¶ RPM Limit
Sets the maximum allowed transmission input RPM.
Set this at least 200 RPM above the engine rev limiter to avoid unnecessary RPM intervention.
¶ Creep
Enables automatic-transmission-style creep by applying a small clutch pressure while stationary.
¶ Shiftmap Editor
Shiftmap customization depends on the installed DCT software version.
¶ Special Features
¶ Changing Transmission Type - 8HP
If the transmission contains software for the wrong model or fuel type, the transmission type can be changed before flashing.
Select the displayed Model or Type to open the transmission selection dialog.
Important: Always select the correct transmission model and fuel type. Incorrect selection can result in incorrect RPM limits, clutch control and shifting behaviour.
¶ Changing VIN
The transmission VIN can be changed when required.
This can be useful with third-party flashing tools that identify the transmission or vehicle by VIN.
Select the displayed VIN and enter the new value.
Use a suitable VIN for the transmission and application. An incorrect VIN may cause problems with diagnostic or third-party flashing tools.
¶ Using the CANTCU Flasher
Always use the latest CANTCU Configurator. The flash process requires a stable internet connection.
If you experience a flashing problem, send the Flasher logfile to support@canformance.net.
Nothing may be connected to the CAN1 OBD connection during flashing. Other devices connected to the flashing bus can interfere with communication.
¶ 1. Open CANTCU Flasher
Open: Options → CANTCU Flasher
Read and accept the disclaimer before continuing.
¶ 2. Select the Transmission
Select the correct transmission family.
For 8HP transmissions, select the correct transmission model and engine fuel type.
¶ 3. Check Transmission Information
CANTCU Flasher reads the connected transmission and displays the available flashing options.
If Immobilizer Status shows Locked, use the supported Stock flashing procedure to perform the required unlock.
¶ 4. Start the Flash
Select the required flash type and press Flash.
A confirmation window displays the operations to be performed and the approximate duration.
Confirm to begin flashing.
¶ 5. Flashing
Do not disconnect power, USB or the transmission while flashing is in progress.
Avoid using the computer for other tasks during the flash.
¶ 6. Complete
When programming completes, a confirmation dialog is displayed.
After closing the Flasher, CANTCU returns to normal operation.
