Race+ uses one common installation method for all supported ZF 8HP transmissions, simplifying the wiring and installation process. Existing legacy-wired installations are also fully compatible with Race+.
The same wiring method is used regardless of the transmission's original vehicle manufacturer.

All supported Race+ 8HP transmissions use the following connections:
| Transmission Pin | Function | Connect to |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | CAN High | CANTCU CAN1 High |
| 6 | CAN Low | CANTCU CAN1 Low |
| 9 | Wake-Up | CANTCU WUP |
| 13 | +12 V | Fused +12 V supply |
| 14 | Ground | Ground |
Connect transmission pins 5 and 6 to CANTCU CAN1.
Use twisted-pair wire for the CAN connection.
Only CAN1 is required for transmission communication with Race+. CAN2 is not required.
Connect transmission pin 9 to the CANTCU WUP output.
WUP provides the transmission with a +12 V wake-up signal while the system is active.
Connect transmission pin 13 to a suitable fused +12 V supply and pin 14 to Ground.
CANTCU and the transmission should use the same switched power supply, preferably powered already in the Accessory (ACC) position if available.
A time-delay relay is not required with Race+. Transmission adaptations are saved automatically during normal operation.
A separate transmission OBD connector is not required with Race+. Diagnostics are handled through CANTCU.
Transmission programming, backup and setup are handled using the 8HP TCM Tool.
Shifters are connected normally according to the selected shifter. Depending on the shifter, communication is connected to CAN1 or CAN3.
See Supported Shifters for supported models, wiring and pinouts.
Before first use, program the transmission with Race+ using the 8HP TCM Tool.
For a stock transmission, create a backup before installing Race+.
After Race+ has been installed and the transmission is connected, configure it through the CANTCU Configurator.
See Race+ Configuration for the available settings.
