Race+ support planned
Race+ is the preferred 8HP software where supported. Support for 8HP50, 8HP75 and 8HP95 is planned.
Until Race+ support is released for these models, use the installation method on this page.
Initial support v1.0.126The transmission needs to be virginized/unlocked prior to use. Unlocking is done using CANTCU Flasher after installation.
The CANTCU Controller needs to be installed in a dry place e.g. inside the car, or inside the ECU box if present. The USB-B port on top of the controller should remain accessible for configuration.
Wiring must be done according to the diagrams below.
Power input to CANTCU can be connected together with the 8HP transmission power input. Recommended fuse size for the combined connection is 15 A.
WUP (Wake-Up) of the 8HP and shifter requires +12 V only while ignition is on. This should be controlled by the CANTCU WUP output and connected to all required units.
This installation requires delayed transmission power shutdown on non-OEM installations.
Adaptation values are saved after WUP switches off while main transmission power remains active.
Main power should remain available for approximately 45-60 seconds after shutdown.
OEM installations may already provide this behaviour. Standalone and custom installations normally require a time-delay relay.
CAN1 and CAN2 are used for transmission and optional shifter communication.
CAN3 is normally used for vehicle/ECU communication.
Use twisted-pair wiring for CAN.
CAN1 and CAN2 have built-in 120 ohm termination resistors. CAN3 does not.
A separate transmission OBD connector is required for this installation.
It is connected to CAN1 and can be used for BMW diagnostics and compatible third-party transmission flashing tools such as xHP.
See the Software section for configurable CANTCU inputs and outputs.
