BMW ATC Transfer Case

BETA support in v1.0.135

Supported transfer cases

  • All ATCxxx found in E-series E6/7/8/9x generation cars

Features

  • Percentual control of the amount of torque distribution between front/rear
  • 16×16 map with selectable axes
  • Forced RWD mode through DIN/CAN input
  • Uses stock ATC Control Unit if applicable (under passenger seat in OEM cars)

E6/7/9x-specific Stuff

For stock cars, only the PTCAN-lines need to be cut from the control unit, and rerouted to CANTCU CAN1. CANTCU simulates a dummy ATC-unit via CAN3 (car integration) to the PTCAN and keeps the DSC in the car happy while fully taking over control of the transfer case.

Parts Required

  • ATCxxx Transfer Case
  • ATCxxx Motor
  • ATCxxx Control Unit (depending on model)
  • Wiring between units

Models like E6x/9x have a separate ATC Control unit under the front passenger seat which controls the ATC Motor, while some E7x/8x models only have the ATC Motor with all the necessary control electronics integrated. Both types are supported by CANTCU.

Connection

CANTCU CAN1 to CAN-lines on the ATC Control Unit (if applicable, connector X10594) or directly on ATC Motor (connector X8603). Pinout is the same on both.
